Yes…Finally!!
The good news is, finally, after waiting for 11 long years I’ll get to see a Broncos game in Denver and it’ll be against the hated Raiders on Dec 20th. If you’re going to the game and would like to meet up with me email me here or at my primary email address. gomilehigh@yahoo.com
It’d be an awesome honor to meet some of the cool fans I’ve meet on myspace & facebook and played fantasy football with over the last several years. Sincerely let me know if you’re going (If you have a cell it’ll be easy) and I’ll make it a point to let you know where I am in the stadium. I plan on being there as early as possible to mix and mingle with other fans before the game.
First Ever Game at Invesco
I’ve never been to Invesco Field so it’ll be a thrilling experience to see a game there. This will be the 12th Broncos game I’ve seen in person and the 7th Raiders game I’ve seen in Denver and all of them were at the old Mile High Stadium. I bought the tickets this summer but didn’t know until just a few weeks ago if I was actually going to be able to go or not because of work. I had no idea when I bought these tickets last summer that this game would end up having as much meaning and importance as it has.
The last game I saw in Denver was in 98 when Broncos destroyed the Eagles. The last Broncos regular season game I saw was in San Francisco in 2002 when Brian Griese played one of his better games and the Broncos beat the 49ers 24-14. The very last game I saw the Broncos play was the preseason 2004 NFL Hall of Fame Game against the Redskins in Canton, OH
First game I ever saw in Denver was a Monday Night Chiefs game from the South Stands in 1990. Elway’s arm and a late FG in the 4th Q by the usually unreliable Treadwell sealed the deal.
Here’s the box score from the Kansas City Chiefs Game on Sept. 17 1990. How many where there?

First Raiders game saw in Denver was in 1990. How many remember the long 62 yard run Bo Jackson had for a TD? He killed us that day. God I’m glad he had a short career.
Raiders vs. Broncos Dec. 2, 1990
The best Raiders game I saw was in 97, what a game, remember? They destroyed the Jeff George led Raiders. The D gave up just one FG so the shutout was lost but made what a thing of beauty. Davis was killer in that game.
Raiders vs. Broncos Nov. 24, 1997
I’m hoping for complete and total annihilation on the 20th. I want my Raider pound of flesh; it may be a while before I’m back in Bronco Nation.
My spin on this weeks Colts game
On O… pound the ball on the ground early and often just like last week. Only go to the air after the running game fails. No turnovers and minimize mental mistakes and penalties. Kyle Orton must be able to play smart football and not force the issue even if they get behind early.
On D… they must shut down Joesph Addai and Donald Brown first, if they can’t stop the running game it’ll be impossible for them to stop the pass. If they can shut it down they must continue the aggressive style of blitzing D that help them win 8 games and get pressure on Peyton Manning.
Many may think the Colts wins during this winning streak have been lucky, especially the 2 games against the Houston Texans (I’m bummed for poor Kubiak) but don’t you believe it.
Yes, the Colts D is not the best unit in the NFL and the Colts running game is not what it once was, he’s had injuries at WR but make no mistake Manning has been played the best football of his career this year. He has carried this team on his back like that old war horse General Patton. He’s the smartest QB in the NFL and despite these problems he’s found a way to help them win games.
Can the Broncos pull an upset?
They’ll have to play a perfect game in all 3 phases on O, D and special teams, it’s their only hope. If I were a betting man I’d say they have no chance but I’ve underestimated them all year and if this defense can play a great game maybe it’s possible.
McKid for NFL Coach of the Year?
Some have mentioned Josh McDaniels as a possible candidate for Coach of the Year, I can’t see that just yet. He did his best work of season last week and he’ll have to impress me with his offensive game plans in the next 4 weeks and secure a playoff berth to get my consideration.
In my opinion the real Coach of the Year even though he’s not a Head Coach belongs to Mike Nolan, he’s turned around the worst defensive unit in team history from a year ago into one of the best in the league this year. Make no mistake without Nolan we wouldn’t be having this conversation about the Broncos possibly getting a playoff berth.
I so excited to watch the Colts game this week at home and even more excited to go to Denver next Sunday to see the Raiders game. I hope you guys will contact me if you go to the game.
GO BRONCOS!!
