Trump Supporters please... Multiple not Divide!

I doubt Trump supporters noticed that not once did he mention the word “Conservatives” in his acceptance speech Thursday at the convention nor did he do it Friday in his press conference, instead he chose to curb-stomp Cruz 3 separate times. He did however ask Bernie supporters to come jump on board, like that will happen, but not one encouraging word inviting in Conservatives.

It tells you how far Republican politics have gone off the tracks when a newly minted Republican nominee openly courts the most liberal members of the Democrat party instead of reaching out to the most Conservative in his own.

Just putting Cruz aside for a moment Trump has had 2 golden opportunities in as many days to unite the party. Instead of acting like an adult and inviting all Republicans to join the team so he could win in November he went into full on trash talk mode.

Why not invite the Conservatives to join him? His answer, he doesn't need Cruz's endorsement or in so many words the Conservatives either to beat Hillary. That’s an insane strategy of course because he'll surely need every voter he can get including Conservatives to have any chance in November.

The problem is and it’s his problem by the way, is he doesn’t give a hot damn about the Conservatives, it took him less than 24 hours to alienate them again with this stupid speech Friday. You CAN NOT blame the Conservative voters if Trump losses in November, his ego and his mouth will do it for him. I'm getting damn sick and tired of Trump supporters trying to shame me or other Conservatives and saying we’re traitors for not flying Trump's flag.

The Republican primary voters had 4 solid Conservatives to pick from in the 2016 race and anyone of them would have turned the country in the “right” direction with “Conservative Principles”.  If some of them choose not to vote for him, write someone else in or vote for the Libertarian based on upholding their principles I WILL NOT condemn them.

Why? Here’s brief political history lesson on the last 2 Presidential elections for those that have short memories.

In 2008 and 2012 we were essentially told by the establishment Republicans we had to ignore Conservative principles and vote for 2 moderate, left of center Republicans, RINO’s, whatever you choose to name them, so we could win an election. We were told by John McCain then Mitt Romney that a blanket amnesty was the solution to illegal immigration only because they both believed that Latinos and moderate Democrats would vote for them in the general.

Granted there were other important issues that didn’t help them, the wars in the Middle East, the Wall Street collapse, then the bank and auto bailouts and the reckless spending by the GOP congress leading up to 2006 when they lost control of the House, then the Senate in 2008. But to call these 2 men Conservatives is like calling Hillary and Bernie moderate Democrats.

In 2008 Rudy Giuliani or Tommy Thompson would have been great nominees, instead we were left with the detestable McCain. A man whose only conservative value was national defense but on everything else he was a card carrying Democrat. Don’t believe me? Take a long look at his career and congressional voting record.

McCain didn’t help himself by picking Sarah Palin as his running mate either. Tea Party folks may have liked the choice but I sure didn’t, she did far more to hurt his chances than help them. Her true colors and ego came shining through in the primaries in 2016 when she slammed Cruz then endorsed Trump. And she still calls herself Conservative, really? And my local Tea Party friends here in our County don’t understand why I don’t want to be labeled a Tea Party person.

In 2012 voters turned away from Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann in favor of Romney. Romney was pro-amnesty, pro climate change, anti-fossil fuel and had the Romneycare noose around his neck and spent the entire primary season defending it, instead of admitting it was an epic failure.

But still the establishment in the GOP insisted that these 2 men, that were for the most part RINO’s in every sense of the word, were the best we could do and that if Conservatives didn’t support them and vote for them we couldn’t win either election.

Well I ask Republicans today, how the hell did that work out for us? Did voting for 2 moderate Republicans in the primaries help us win an election?

This isn’t to say that either McCain or Romney would not have been better for the country than 8 years of Obama that’s blatantly obvious of course they would have. But the point is we’ve had the opportunity as Republicans to turn the party to the right in 3 consecutive election cycles and each time we’ve picked men who the establishment said we had to vote for to win the election. In 3 consecutive primary election cycles far too many Republicans didn’t have the nerve to back the best Conservative candidates. 3 times we’ve been asked as Conservatives to sell ourselves down the river for men that at best are blue dog or moderate Democrats. And of those 3 candidates Trump in my opinion is the biggest disaster of them all.

The lesson of history is that is that Republicans have not learned from the lessons of history. I however have a clear conscience; I’ve voted for Conservative candidates in 3 Presidential primary election cycles in a row. Why more Republicans didn’t have the courage to do the same isn’t my fault.

I have no choice once again but to vote for a very flawed man that isn’t worthy of the office and damn sure isn’t a Conservative. I’m completely and emotionally drained by this election and while voting for Trump in the general election makes me feel like I sold my soul in another election I won't be a Conservative that puts Hillary in the White House.

So please do me the favor Trump supporters and stop blaming and shaming Conservatives for the down fall of the US if some principled Conservatives that have a conscience don’t vote for him. THEY CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR BAD CHOICE IN THE PRIMARY! And please stop the Ronald Reagan comparisons because they're revolting and insulting.

This is Trump’s election to win or lose that’s the bottom line. No one will be happier than me if Trump is a true man of his word and does what he says he’s going to do if he wins. I’ll happily eat crow if he does but he has to win the election first and if he doesn’t invite as many people as possible including Conservatives into his tent this fall Hillary will be our next President.

I hope the next time Republicans have the intellectual honesty and courage to vote for the most Conservative candidate instead of the cult of personality or a Trojan Horse.

Could Drudge have stopped Trump?

Please click on the link before reading my analysis regarding it. If you don’t you won’t be able to understand the context of the point I’m making and it won’t make much sense to you.

This is a very interesting article and it’s partially true, it would have been very difficult for Trump to win the nomination without the Drudge push. It didn’t help that the main stream media followed Trump around like puppy dogs broadcasting his every word, giving him almost daily interviews along with dissecting his outrageous reality TV comments. Drudge may have been able to stop the bleeding but he chose not to.

The main stream media gave Trump free press from the start of the primary season because in my opinion they always wanted him as the nominee from the beginning because they believed that he would be easy prey in the general election. They undeniably used him for ratings and give him a microphone while pretending to be his best friend and ignored the other candidates intentionally knowing full well that once he won the nomination they would go into full attack mode. It’s happening now.

I tried repeatedly to tell my Oregon Republican friends and anyone else that would listen to me at the beginning of the primary season that supporting Trump was a terrible mistake but not many of them listened to me.

Instead they and many other angry and disillusioned Republicans that were sick of the RINO’s and the GOP leadership in Washington voted for Trump in protest not really because they liked him but as a way to express their anger and frustration by voting for someone outside the establishment. I completely understand the anger, I feel the same way, anger is a good thing, we should be very angry but if it’s not directed in the right way it could be disastrous and back fire. We have to pray it isn’t case with Trump because Republicans know what a nightmare a Hillary Presidency will be.

As far as Drudge is concerned there's no denying he plays a major role in Republican politics. I believe in this election cycle that Drudge did make up his mind early and wanted Trump as the nominee. Many of his posts were Pro-Trump and he went after the other candidates with negative stories but for the most part it was Cruz since he was the last real threat to Trump. For his reasons alone and I don’t know what they were he didn’t want Cruz to be the nominee.

Drudge's influence can't be under estimated, millions of Republicans go to his website every day. When the world of the internet first started the Drudge website was the undisputed king of conservative journalism and to many he still is. More Republicans go to his website first for news than any other website to this day. I was no different at one time, my first click of the day always started at his site but since 2011 I’ve looked to other websites for sources of news and opinion.

When Drudge first launched his website the rest of media considered him a hack and didn’t take him seriously as an objective journalist. In the early days he was respected as an anti-establishment reporter that was right of center but since the George W. Bush years in my view he’s swung more to the center and in some instances left of center in his reporting especially when it comes to Presidential elections.

His establishment leanings began to come through in 2011 when he was an avid supporter of Mitt Romney. At the time I just couldn’t understand and still don’t why he supported him in the primaries when he knew that he was not a true Conservative Republican. At that point I started to distrust Drudge and today I don’t consider him the ultimate go to guy or authority on Conservative politics.

I do still visit the Drudge website because his relentless attacks on Liberals is never in question but since he made the decision in 2011 to support Romney and now Trump this election cycle his personal judgment can’t be trusted if you call yourself a true Conservative.

The lesson to be learned here is that Conservatives must seek out other internet websites or radio commentators like Mark Levin to get information and opinion. Drudge just like Fox News have their own agendas and many times they don’t fall into line with Conservative ideology. Drudge is not solely responsible for the rise of Trump, the rest of liberal media and angry voters contributed as well however it’s never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket.

I know Fox News is the only mainstream media source that doesn’t promote Liberalism but it certainly isn’t always promoting Conservatism either. If you depend solely on Fox News and loud mouth bullies like Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity as orbiters of true Conservatism you are being horribly deceived. They are others you just have to seek them out.

Instead of watching Fox or clicking on Drudge try these websites instead and get a different prospective. I like the Conservative Review, Free Republic, Breitbart, News Busters, CNS News,World Net Daily and Western Journalism among others. The King of Conservatives in all of the media is Mark Levin. Listen to just 1 or 2 of his shows and you’ll be convinced.
